Frequently asked questions
OmniWave® Shockwave Therapy — General
Q 1. What is OmniWave shockwave therapy?
A non-invasive device that delivers focused acoustic waves deep into tissue. Those waves stimulate blood flow, cellular repair, and nerve regeneration without needles, drugs, or downtime.
Q 2. How is OmniWave different from radial “massage-gun” shockwave?
OmniWave produces true focused shockwaves that penetrate 3–6 cm with consistent energy, versus radial devices that disperse energy superficially. Focused waves reach nerves, tendons, and vascular tissue more effectively.
Q 3. Does treatment hurt?
Most patients feel a pulsing or mild “tapping” sensation. Energy levels are adjustable; we start low and increase as tolerated. There is absolutely ZERO discomfort.
Q 4. How long is a session and how many do I need?
Typical human session: 5-6 minutes per region. Protocols run 8-12 sessions spaced 1× weekly for chronic conditions, with boosters as needed.
Q 5. Are there side effects?
Minor redness, temporary soreness, or tingling for 24 hrs. No systemic side effects because no drugs are used. Contraindications include pregnancy, active malignancy in the treatment zone, acute infections, pacemakers directly under the target area, and unhealed fractures.
Neuropathy & Nerve Pain
Q 6. How does OmniWave help peripheral neuropathy?
Focused shockwaves trigger angiogenesis (new micro-blood-vessel growth) and up-regulate nerve growth factors. This improves nutrient delivery and stimulates nerve‐fiber repair, reducing numbness, burning, and tingling.
Q 7. What types of neuropathy respond best?
Diabetic, chemotherapy-induced, and post-surgical neuropathies show the strongest data. Idiopathic neuropathy often improves as well if circulation is a contributing factor.
Q 8. When will I feel relief?
Roughly 30 % notice change after the first 1–2 sessions, 60 % by session 4, and the rest during the maintenance phase. Full tissue remodeling continues for weeks after the last treatment.
Chronic Joint, Back & Neck Pain
Q 9. Which musculoskeletal conditions do you treat?
Knees (OA, meniscus), shoulders (rotator cuff, frozen shoulder), plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinopathy, tennis elbow, spinal facet pain, and sacroiliac dysfunction.
Q 10. Can OmniWave replace cortisone injections or surgery?
It’s often used before injections or surgery are considered. If conservative measures fail, shockwave may delay or even eliminate the need for invasive procedures.
Q 11. Will the pain return?
Results are long-lasting because shockwave treats underlying tissue quality, not just symptoms. That said, degenerative conditions can recur; periodic booster sessions or lifestyle changes (weight management, strength training) help maintain gains.
Do you accept insurance, Medicare or Medicaid?
We are a cash pay service. We do offer several different payment methods to make it as affordable as we can.
Sexual Wellness (Men & Women)
Q 12. How does OmniWave improve erectile function?
The waves create controlled micro-trauma that stimulates neovascularization (new blood vessels) and growth of penile smooth muscle tissue, enhancing blood flow and firmness.
Q 13. Is it safe if I’m on PDE-5 medications (Viagra®, Cialis®)?
Yes. Many patients use both; over time, some can reduce pill dosage or frequency. Always consult your prescribing physician.
Q 14. Does it help vaginal dryness or reduced sensation?
Applied externally, focused shockwave boosts pelvic blood flow and collagen production, which can improve lubrication and sensitivity. We often pair it with photobiomodulation or PRP for synergistic effect.
Q 15. How many sessions for sexual health?
Six sessions (twice weekly for three weeks) is the standard GainsWave-style protocol, with optional maintenance every 6–12 months.

Treatment Logistics & Safety
Q 16. Do I need imaging or labs first?
Not usually. A physical exam and health history rule out contraindications. Severe or unexplained pain may warrant X-ray or MRI before therapy begins.
Q 17. Can I drive or work out after a session?
Yes. There’s no sedation and minimal soreness. Light activity is encouraged to support circulation.
Q 18. Is OmniWave covered by insurance?
Currently considered elective/alternative; we offer transparent package pricing and 0 % financing (CareCredit®, Cherry).
Veterinary & Equine / Livestock Applications
Q 19. Why use shockwave on horses or pets?
Animals develop similar tendon, ligament, and joint injuries as humans. Focused shockwave accelerates healing, reduces lameness, and can restore performance without medications subject to competition bans.
Q 20. What conditions do you treat in horses?
Bowed tendons, suspensory-ligament injuries, navicular syndrome, kissing spine, and non-healing wounds. Many trainers also use it preventively during heavy show schedules.
Q 21. Is sedation required?
Large animals often receive light standing sedation to ensure precise probe placement; small pets usually tolerate treatment with gentle restraint.
Q 22. How many sessions for animals?
Acute soft-tissue injuries: 1–3 sessions, 1–2 weeks apart. Chronic conditions: 3–5 sessions. The veterinarian tailors the plan per species and severity.
Q 23. Any withdrawal times for racing or show animals?
Shockwave itself is drug-free, but many regulatory bodies require a 3–7 day stand-down after treatment to ensure no performance advantage on race day—check your specific league rules.
Q 24. Can OmniWave be used on cattle or other livestock?
Yes—for hoof lesions, tendon sprains, and mastitis-associated pain. Treatment is on-farm with portable equipment; no milk or meat withdrawal but always follow veterinarian guidance.
